Treasury Gives GM Until July 10th To Complete Sale Or.....

TheGMSource - The Unites States of America Treasury Department gave General Motors a deadline to complete a sale of it's "good" assets to the Government. The Treasury says if GM does not sell it's "good" assets to the Government then the Treasury Department will end all funding to General Motors.

What does that mean?

Two Thousand And Ten Saab 9-5? If so - It's Hot!

TheGMSource - So I dumped the "Saab" Category here on The Source because lets face it, Saab is no longer part of General Motors in a figurative way. In a literal way Saab is part of General Motors but only for a few more weeks. In any event, pictures leaked over the weekend of what many are saying is a real look at the 2010 Saab 9-5.

If this is the 2010 Saab 9-5 GM may literally want to figuratively find a way to hold on to Saab because the 9-5 is HOT!

Hummer CEO Expects Tengzhong To Be Investor Only

TheGMSource - As we were the first (and only) to report yesterday that Hummer is set to be sold on June 28th, today we receive word that current Hummer CEO Jim Taylor expects Hummers new owners at Tengzhong to be investors only. Several news blogs and web-sites have reported that China will move to block the sale of Hummer to Tengzhong, however those reports are inaccurate.

GM Continues To Dumb Down The Chevy Volts Look

TheGMSource - The Chevrolet Volt was one hot looking concept when it debuted at the NAIAS a few years ago. The concept couldn't make it to production due to aerodynamics. Understandable. So, GM showed the production Chevrolet Volt at a celebration for its 100 years in business. The pictures released (like the one up above) showed the Volts charging port in the same spot as the concepts.

That's changed - and the "dummification of design" for the Chevrolet Volt continues.

Update: General Motors response added

Very First Pre-Production Volt Hits The Road!

TheGMSource - History. That's the best way this can be described. A car thats been the topic of many water cooler conversations, called "vapor-ware" and a "publicity stunt" from General Motors is on the road. The very first pre-production Chevrolet Volt, complete with production body is road ready and GM's Chief Engineer Andrew Farrah takes the wheel.

Buick Halo Car Coming Soon? Maybe? Possibly?

TheGMSource - Buick has what seems to be a sure-fire hit on its hands in the 2010 Buick LaCrosse. The car is much more "grown up" and very "mature" in style. It appeals to me (I'm 25) and it also appeals to friends of mine that have seen the new LaCrosse.

However nice the LaCrosse is, it wouldn't draw me in to a Buick dealership. In fact, nothing Buick or GMC sells would draw me in to their dealership - and that's a major problem considering what would pull me in to the Buick-GMC dealership has been cancelled: Pontiac.

GM Sells 2 Million Buicks in China

TheGMSource - Buick was saved by GM because of it's strong presence in China. We all know this. If it weren't for China it's fair to say that Buick would have also seen the ax when the Auto Task Force came through Motown a few months back. What may have happened and what actually did happen are two different things.

Buick is still here - and in China and the brand recently sold it's 2 Millionth vehicle.

The Idiocy Continues: Fritz Says Again The Pontiac G8 Won't Be Rebadged

TheGMSource - I don't like to follow up to news posts with pictures of the same car, but the G8 is an exception, right? Afterall, it's Pontiacs best selling retail model and sells nearly 4,000 units a year. If it sustained 4,000 units a year the G8 would sell 48,000 units to retail customers. That's a great feat in todays depressed market.

You'd think GM would want to hold on to those 4k units a month, or potentially add to them. Afterall, the company is in  bankruptcy because it can't seem to sell CARS people want to buy. Seems as if the G8 has the publics attention. So, what do you do if your GM? You slam the door shut on the G8 coming states side as something else.

Voters Speak: Want Pontiac Saved

TheGMSource - I've said it before - I don't know how GM plans to replace the hundreds of thousands in sales it will lose from phasing out the Pontiac brand. The brand is GM's third best selling brand, behind only Chevrolet and GMC. That's quite a few cars to replace overnight.

At any rate, some 1,693 would-be buyers were polled which GM brand they want saved. The answer: Pontiac.
