Toyota Recall May Mean More In China Than U.S.
TheGMSource - Consider this...the United States was not the worlds largest car market last year, China was and it continues to grow month over month. GM has seen its sales explode in China the past few years as the economy booms and thanks to Joint Ventures with automakers in the region. You'd think in order for Toyota to sustain its worldwide growth it would look to rely on the Chinese market over the next few years. Maybe so, but for Toyota, recalls in China are anything but few and far between. Read More... |

Toyota Forced Into Recalls By U.S. Government
TheGMSource - We've heard Toyota go on a full PR press this week after the damaging recalls it made last week to millions upon millions of vehicles in two different recalls. First Toyota recalled some 1.4 Million vehicles due to an issue with floormats. Then the company issued another recall to fix faulty gas pedals. To hear Toyota's press releases and statements to the media they did this all on their own. Not so fast says Transporation Secretary Ray LaHood. Read More... |

Sale of GM's Hummer Brand Delayed
TheGMSource - It seems as if the companies interested in buying GM's old brands may be seeing what GM saw in them, they're not worth much and might not be worth saving. First Roger Penske was forced to pull out of the purchase of GM's once touted import fighting brand, Saturn. Then the Saab deal fell apart late last year before Spyker Automotive stepped in and made a last minute deal with GM announced last week. Now, we're getting word that GM's sale of Hummer to a Chinese company is in limbo, causing GM to delay the sale of the brand until later this month. Read More... |

TOYOTAL RECALL: Toyotas Quality Issues Show GM/Chrysler Bailout Justified
TheGMSource - The company once thought to be the pinnacle of automotive quality and engineering has started a new decade much like it left the last one: plagued by recalls for millions of its top selling vehicles. In October of last year Toyota announced a major recall of 4.5 Million cars because of what it said was a floormat problem that lead to random acceleration of vehicles. Just yesterda the company added 1.1 Million more vehicles to that recall, in addition to a newly announced recall of 1.2 Million vehicles for faulty gas pedals. Read More... |

Update On GM's 1 Year Free Service To All Pontiac Owners
TheGMSource - You may remember a few weeks back I had blogged about how my entire family had received an offer of one year free service on all of our Pontiac vehicles. I got one for my 2006 Pontiac Solstice, my mother got one for her 2009 Pontiac G5 and my dad got one for his 2004 Pontiac Grand Am GT. A few people on Twitter had said they did not receive such an offer although they've loyal Pontiac owners for several years. Others on this web-site had said their dealership told them it was not "free" just "half off" despite what the offer letter states. So, I went to work and got in touch with GM's Director of of Communications Terry Rhadigan. Read More... |

BYD Sets $40,000 Price Tag For Electric e6 Car
TheGMSource - We like to focus primarly on GM related news because lets face it, that's what we know best and that's what you expect from us. We don't begin to pretend what's going on with the other guys because quite frankly...we're focused on the home team. With that said the adaptation of electric vehicles in the U.S. is going to make a pretty major step later this year when our Chevrolet Volt reaches dealer showrooms. TheGMSource - When GM showed the 2011 Buick Regal at the 2009 LA Auto Show it left many enthusiasts clamoring for more. There were rumors that we'd see a more powerful Regal at an upcoming auto show. One that quite possibly sported the same features as the Opel Insignia OPC sold in other countries. At the 2010 NAIAS GM did not disappoint the enthusiasts and showed the Buick Regal GS Show Car. It's listed as a show car for now, but let there be no doubt about it, this car will see production. I give my thoughts on the show car and the hope it gives Pontiac owners. Read More... |

TheGMSource - By now you've probably heard about the crisis in Haiti following a 7.0 magnitude earthquate that shook the region a few days ago. From footage I've seen on all the major news outlets it doesn't look like any buildings survived the quake. The deaths are rumored to be in the tens of thousands, if not hundreds of thousands. Americans are sure to be included in the final toll. Today, GM stepped up their own efforts for Haiti relief and has donated $100k to the American Red Cross. Read More... |

How Chevy Is Missing Out On An Ultimate Advertising Opportunity
TheGMSource - Ford and the NFL. Ford and American Idol. Ford and "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition." Those three sponsorships have without a doubt paid off big for the Ford brand. Why? The NFL, Home Makeover, and probably more important American Idol all reach the coveted 18-35 age demographic that every paying sponser craves to reach. What major series on television does Chevrolet sponsor that reaches the 18-35 demographic? I'm 26 and I can't name one "cool" series or mainstream television event that Chevy sponsors year in, year out. Chevy can and should change that with an Ultimate advertising opportunity worth Fighting for. Read More... |

TheGMSource - It's a debate that is sure to rage on over the next few days, maybe week or months. The Camaro, which went on sale in March of '09 sold a respectable 61,618 units for the year. AutoBlog says the Mustang won the "war." I'll politely disagree. Read More... |
