Buick To Be First Brand For GM In China To Receive A Hybrid
TheGMSource - Buick is the luxury brand in China, much like it was a highly regarded brand here in North America before the 80's hit and boring took over instead of exciting in terms of design and style. Buick of North America will soon be on the cusp of another design boom that should propel it back into the minds of Americans as a formidable luxury vehicle. Over in China it's a completely different story. Buicks are highly regarded and are the luxury brand in GM's stable. Buick is even more sought after than Cadillac. Buick, you could say, is a tale of two brands. Read More... |

TheGMSource Steps Up To Help Earth Day Activities
TheGMSource - A few months back I had received an e-mail from a gentleman who was planning activities around Earth Day 2008 in Westport, CT. The e-mail was from the Chairman of the Board of Trustees and President of the Westport Nature Center located in Westport, CT. The sender did acknowledge that it was a long shot e-mail, but never the less shared that he was interested in contacting somebody from General Motors regarding their alternative fuel vehicles for display, specifically the Chevrolet Volt. I did what I always do. I contacted a few key people in Chevrolet and General Motors. Here it is April 2008 and I'm happy to report results. Read More... |

Saturn Now Part Of GM Reward Card Earnings
TheGMSource - Since Saturns inception it was a brand that was always a little bit different from other GM brands. From the dent resistent door panels to the way it was marketed, GM really wanted Saturn to not appear to be a "true" GM brand. That included the GM Reward Card earnings. You couldn't use your GM Card earnings on Saturn vehicles. The entire brand was off limits. Today, that has changed as Saturn has been included in the GM Reward Card program. Is This The Next Ford Taurus? TheGMSource - It's not often we'll cover news by one of GM's competitors, but who can deny what the Taurus has done for Ford Motor Company over the years? Other than completely saving the company in the 80's it's been a best selling family car for years. The Taurus left the automotive world a few years back in favor of the Ford 500. The 500 failed, and bad. So much so that at last years Chicago Auto Show Ford CEO Alan Mulally announced the death of the 500 and the return of the Taurus (and Taurus X crossover.) Since then Mulally has said that the Taurus is being revamed for 2010. This image has leaked on the 'web today and has Ford fans saying it's the next Ford Taurus. Better quality image at the jump. Major Delphi Backer Backs Out: GM On The Hook For Even More
TheGMSource - Just yesterday I wrote that GM may be putting itself in a position to control Delphi. The reasoning, as I wrote is because GM has already pledged nearly $3 Billion to help Delphi get out of debt. I also wrote that GM is considering take on more of Delphis pension obligations. If GM takes on nearly $1 Billion more in pension liabilities plus the original $2.6 Billion it had planned to "loan" Delphi, that would put GM's total "loan" at about $3,550,000. Delpi needs $6.1 Billion to remerge from Chapter 11. Where would the rest come from? Investment firm Appaloosa LLC had previously promised $2.55 Billion. However, today... UPDATE Read More... |

Is GM Gearing Up For A Controlling Stake In The New Delphi?
TheGMSource - Delphi is nowhere near emerging from bankruptcy as it had hoped to by now. The company is finding it terribly difficult to secure the $6.1 billion it needs to emerge from bankruptcy amid a credit crunch by the nations leading banks due to the economy. Just last month GM pledged nearly $3 billion more in loans to Delphi. That move has riled private-equity investors who do not want GM part of the emerging Delphi. Today we find out that GM is going one step further than the $3 billion. Read More... |

GM Dealers Deliver 13% Fewer Cars In March of 2008
TheGMSource - March Madness it was not in GM dealerships in March. The company today reported 282,732 vehicles in March, down 13% compared to year ago levels. While total deliveries are down, GM said that retail sales remained stable for the first quarter of the year. The Cadillac CTS, Chevrolet Malibu and GM's new crossover trio sold well for the company, Mark LaNeve said. One of the more notables of retail sales? In the first quarter of 2008 GM has four of the top 10 best selling cars currently available on the market.
