Update On GM's 1 Year Free Service To All Pontiac Owners
TheGMSource - You may remember a few weeks back I had blogged about how my entire family had received an offer of one year free service on all of our Pontiac vehicles. I got one for my 2006 Pontiac Solstice, my mother got one for her 2009 Pontiac G5 and my dad got one for his 2004 Pontiac Grand Am GT.
A few people on Twitter had said they did not receive such an offer although they've loyal Pontiac owners for several years. Others on this web-site had said their dealership told them it was not "free" just "half off" despite what the offer letter states. So, I went to work and got in touch with GM's Director of of Communications Terry Rhadigan.
Here's what I asked Terry earlier in the week regarding the issues that have arisen for some Pontiac owners, and also asked if Saturn may be included as many of you have asked me that as well:
I'm curious if you can shed light on who is/was eligible for the offer? My father got one for his 2004 Pontiac Grand Am GT as well as my mother for her 2009 Pontiac G5. Owners of the Vibe and Aztek have e-mailed and said
they never received such a letter. I'm curious if it is indeed FREE and not a discount (stupid question, but hear me out.) I know the letter says FREE, however I've had readers e-mail me telling me their dealer is charging them for HALF of the cost. If that's the case it sounds like dealers would receive a full refund from GM while charging the customer half, so they'd be "double dipping" so to speak.
Saturn owners have not received such an offer. Are you familiar if they will be in the future or if this is strictly Pontiac owners?
Terry got back to us yesterday with details on the offer. Despite what your dealer may be telling you, the certificate states the service is FREE and it is. If your dealer attempts to charge you for these services when presented with the offer letter, by all means please shoot me an e-mail as GM's marketing department said they'd be more then happy to look into why the dealership is charging for these services.
If you haven't received an offer but have owned your Pontiac for years, please shoot me an e-mail with your VIN. It will be forwarded along to GM's marketing team and they will look into why you never received such an offer.
We were also informed that Saturn owners can expect an offer similar to this however nothing has been announced. It was relayed to us that offers for Saturn owners can expect something over time.
