Chevy Volt Battery To Have Longer Powertrain Warranty Period Conventional Vehicle 

TheGMSource - We all know that GM will be looking to ride the release of the Chevy Volt as long as it can, hoping to capture some of the energy and bottle it up for future use. There are however, several question marks on the Volt, even though it is roughly 14 weeks away from the start of consumer sale. We don't know what colors it will come in, we don't know what options it will have, we don't even know how much it will cost. Perhaps the biggest question mark for customers other then retail cost is, what will the warranty be on the Volts battery pack? Today we're supposed to find out, but we've got a sneak peak at what GM's announcement will bring in just a few hours.

Sources have told The Detroit Free Press that we can expect GM to announce a warranty on the Volts battery better then that of a conventional, gasoline powered GM car or truck. GM's current powertrain warranty is 5 years or 100k miles, whichever comes first.
